Don’t Check Your Phone

One of my favorite things to do is resist my urge to check my phone while I stand in line at the grocery store.

First of all, I don’t want to be like the rest of those fuckin’ zombies. I mean seriously, you ain’t that important, bruh. Who you kidding?

But more importantly, it’s a perfect opportunity to work on my addiction to the Easy Distraction that is social media.

I can feel the urge to pull my phone out of my pocket and check my Instagram notifications.

And then not do it.

But the best part is I can pay attention and watch people who are trying to decide which line they should choose.

The anxiety. The indecision.

The mounting frustration as the line they abandoned goes faster than the one they moved to.

Shit is hilarious.

The satisfaction of VICTORY when a new register opens as they’re walking by and they don’t have to wait with the rest of us assholes. So good.

One of the best feelings in the world.

I don’t really remember what True Joy feels like, but it must be something like this.

Anyway, try it out.

No phones while you wait.

Don’t take the easy way out.

Take the hilarious way in.
